Vice President, Legislative & Regulatory Affairs
ELECTRIC POWER GENERATION ASSOCIATION
Purpose:
To represent the electric generation industry before the legislature, administrative agencies, public media and other forums through the position of Vice President, Legislative & Regulatory Affairs.
Responsibilities:
Provides advice and representation regarding all issues arising from government regulation of the electric generation industry. The scope of issues includes energy, consumer and industry legislation, restructuring/regulation of energy markets, environmental regulation and energy policy initiatives.
Analyzes the impact of proposed legislation, regulations, and other governmental initiatives. Prepares and coordinates documents such as public comments on proposed regulations and policies, and testimony before administrative agencies and the legislature.
Provides government affairs representation, including lobbying and testifying before government/administrative agencies and legislative committees. Also engages in public relations efforts such as participating in discussions in public forums, writing articles, meeting with reporters and editorial boards, and other efforts to educate the public on issues that are important to the industry.
Works closely with the President of the Association and representatives of the member companies, including Association committees, to assure effective representation on all issues of importance to the electric generation industry.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have significant experience in one or more of the following areas: Pennsylvania government/legislative affairs, competitive wholesale electric industry, legislative/regulatory research, environmental regulation, energy industry law.
Candidates should possess superior analytical and communications skills (both written and verbal). As a visible, public representative of the electric generation industry, candidates should have the ability to be both persuasive and diplomatic. Candidates should also be skilled at building consensus and managing conflicts.
